OK, this page isn't a mad rant from some well-meaning-but-talking-rubbish KJVO advocate against the NIV, although (admittedly) the New International Version isn't the author's favourite Bible version. It is a sober look at a key and precious Bible verse upon which the NIV throws its dark shadow of doubt i.e. Luke 23:34 "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." Have a look. If you feel like commenting, let us try and steer away from a general look at modern translations and keep very closely to the maater at hand i.e. whether or not we can read Luke 23:34 with absolute confidence that this is indeed inspired Scripture and not some pious but uninspired add on.

Did the Lord Jesus really speak these words from the Cross. I answer "Yes! He did" and I do so, because the vast majority of the available texts allow me to do so. If I were a NIV man, I would have to mumble some kind of reply, but I could not be consistent with my Bible translation and speak so clearly.
